Hussain Al-Sairfi
Mechanical engineer and Associate Research Scientist at the Water Research Center, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR). My research focuses on seawater desalination, membrane distillation, produced-water treatment, brine management, scaling control, and mineral recovery from high-salinity brine streams. My recent work investigates how brine chemistry, ionic strength, membrane configuration, and process operating conditions affect desalination performance, mineral solubility, precipitation control, and resource recovery. I am particularly interested in transforming desalination brine from a disposal challenge into a recoverable resource for sustainable water and environmental applications. Research areas: desalination, membrane distillation, brine valorization, mineral recovery, scaling control, produced water treatment, high-salinity brines, water-energy systems, and sustainable desalination.
